Biography at a glance: Harlem-born rapper Calvin Alan Byrd—better known as 40 Cal—made his name in cypher battles and MTV2 Fight Klub battles before becoming a member of Dipset. His debut studio album, Broken Safety, dropped in 2006. The follow-up single from Broken Safety 2 (2007) was The Big Boys. In 2008, he released Mooga (Gold Dust Media) and The Yellow Tape (RBC Records), with Mooga widely cited as his third studio album. The 2018 project My Own Idol found its tracklist on major stores, though the label remained largely undisclosed.
