A 24-Decade History of Popular Music is the ambitious, epoch-spanning project by artist and performer Taylor Mac. Created as a grand, ritualized concert that traces American popular music across 24 decades, this immersive experience blends performance, participatory elements, and a charged sense of history. Since its full premiere in 2016 at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn, the piece has toured in abridged and marathon formats, captivating audiences with hundreds of songs across eight acts and a remarkable 24-hour runtime in its most expansive form.
