Shi-Queeta-Lee, born Jerry VanHook, is a trailblazing drag performer and the visionary founder of VanHook Productions (founded 2005). As a pioneering force in DC’s LGBTQ+ performance scene, she hosted and created A Drag Salute to the Divas, bringing themes like Disney, Motown, and iconic diva tributes to Howard Theatre-era productions and beyond. She was the first drag queen to perform at the White House, cementing her legacy as a cultural trailblazer. With appearances on NBC’s America’s Got Talent (Season 4) and ABC’s Ugly Betty, Shi-Queeta-Lee has long been a recognizable voice in mainstream and underground entertainment. She is a regular at Town Danceboutique and Nellie’s Sports Bar, and she founded Queeta’s Palace as well as Queeta’s Palace Drag Brunch, expanding opportunities for performers and fans alike. Her work earned the 2023 Capital Pride Hero Award, recognizing her impact on the community.
