A Great Day For Singing is the family-friendly folk project led by James Durst, a veteran of the American folk scene with a career spanning decades. Known for early children’s videos like A Great Day For Singing! and its sequel, Durst expanded into family-friendly music with Isn’t This a Great Day for Singing?! (2002). His work has earned recognition on the folk circuit, including the Kerrville Folk Festival’s New Folk award in 1981, and he later performed on the mainstage in subsequent years. Durst also founded Work o’ the Weavers in 2002, a tribute project inspired by the legendary Weavers, and has spearheaded multi-artist endeavors such as Hue Manatee’s Quest and The Whaling Trilogy.
