Founded by Jimmy Iovine, Vicki Iovine, and Bobby Shriver, AVSC released its first album on October 12, 1987, with cover art by Keith Haring. The project has raised tens of millions for Special Olympics over the years and includes eight-plus albums across various editions, such as Vol. 1 (1987), Vol. 2 (1992), Vol. 3 (1997), Live (1999), Vol. 5 (2001), Acoustic Christmas (2003), Vol. 7 (2009), and the 2012 celebratory releases 25 Years Bringing Joy to the World and Bringing Peace on Earth. Early volumes achieved notable RIAA certifications, including quadruple platinum for the 1987 album and double platinum for Vol. 2.
