Jonathan Visger, the man behind Absofacto, began his music career as part of the Michigan-based band Mason Proper. He eventually launched Absofacto as a solo vehicle for his evolving musical ideas, blending indie rock textures with melodic pop sensibilities. The project gained traction through steady releases and touring, culminating in a breakout moment when the track Dissolve climbed to No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart in January 2020 following a viral TikTok trend. This success expanded his audience while staying true to his craft – intimate lyrics, memorable melodies, and a penchant for collaborative storytelling through sound.
Over the years, Absofacto has released a series of EPs and albums, including Trilobite Trash (2008), Sinking Islands (2011), Kiko (2011), Loners: Vol. 1 (2013), Thousand Peaces (2017), and Someone Else’s Dream (2020). In 2017, Absofacto signed with Atlantic Records, a milestone that helped bring his music to a broader audience while preserving the artist’s distinct voice. The pandemic era and the ongoing creative process saw fresh singles and projects, such as Halos (May 2025) and The Knife (April 2025), underscoring Visger’s commitment to exploration and growth as an independent-spirited musician.
