Absu is a metal project built on myth, mysticism, and a relentless blend of black, thrash, and early death metal. Formed in 1989 in Dallas, Texas as Dolmen and renamed Absu in 1991, this band has carved a distinct path through complex riffs, unusual time signatures, and occult lyricism. After a 2020 dissolution, Proscriptor McGovern revitalized the project as Proscriptor McGovern’s Apsû before reuniting Absu in 2024. The band is known for its 1993–2011 studio output, including the final album Abzu (2011), and is now back on stages worldwide with ambitious 30th‑anniversary tours and festival appearances in 2025.
