Adrian Mears is a pivotal figure in contemporary jazz, renowned for his fearless trombone work and inventive approach to texture and rhythm. Born in Sydney in 1969, he has been based in Europe since 1991, earning recognition as one of the leading voices on the trombone in modern jazz. Mears’ sound blends hard bop, blues, funk, swing, and lyrical improvisation, enriched by polyrhythms and innovative live looping. He also explores didgeridoo and other live-texture elements to create immersive performances.
