Aeroplanes were a Liverpool-born indie rock/pop quartet active from 2003 to 2010, known for their catchy melodies, jangly guitars, and earnest storytelling. Hailing from the UK’s music-rich Northwest, they carved a place in the indie scene with early releases that propelled them into the UK indie top 5 in 2005. Their 2008 studio album, Broken Hearts & Maladies, was released on Robot! Records, showcasing a polished blend of indie grit and pop sensibility. The band gained international attention with SXSW 2006 appearances and soundtrack placements in TV shows such as Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill, and Cold Case. Although they disbanded in 2010, Aeroplanes’ influence remains in the hearts of fans and the work of frontman Chris Kearney in subsequent projects like Cold Shoulder.
