Agata Kristi is a storied figure in Russian alternative music, known for merging post-punk sensibilities with evocative new wave synth textures and decadent, gothic lyricism. Formed in 1988 in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) as VIA RTF UPI, the project evolved into Agata Kristi and became a touchstone for fans of moody atmospheres, cinematic arrangements, and sharp, literary-influenced storytelling. After a prolific period through the 1990s, Agata Kristi paused activity in 2010, briefly returning for two memorable concerts in 2015, and has since resurfaced with ongoing activity and a confirmed 2025 tour across multiple Russian cities.
