The Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite represent Alcorn State University's storied musical tradition and dynamic performance heritage. Founded in 1968 as the university’s marching band, the group originated the Golden Girls dance line that same year, adding a robust visual element to its musical showcases. Under the leadership of Director of Bands Dr. Everson Martin, the ensemble features 200+ members and a diverse repertoire that spans ceremonial, athletic, and concert settings. The Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite are preparing to make history with a 2025 debut in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, representing Mississippi for the first time in the event’s storied history. Their forthcoming appearances include the Labor Day Classic Battle of the Bands on August 31, 2025, at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson, MS. The band maintains a strong presence on social media and shares official news through soundsofdynomite.com and university channels.
