Alma Ensemble is a Roanoke-based chamber music collective dedicated to programing works by women composers, with a mission to empower audiences through context-rich performances, education, and living commissions. Founded by flutist Sarah Wardle Jones, clarinetist Michelle Smith Johnson, and pianist Erica Sipes, the group operates Alma Del Core, a community series that unites students, amateurs, and professionals to celebrate music by women. The ensemble is known for thoughtful programming that highlights at least one female composer on every program, and for engaging audiences through residency projects, world-premier style events, and collaborative performances across the Southeast.
