Angela M. Farr Schiller, PhD, stands at the intersection of direction, dramaturgy, and education. An Emmy Award-winning director (2021) and multi-award-winning dramaturg, she brings a global perspective to contemporary theatre and performance studies. In 2022, she made history as the first Black Female Associate Professor of Theater at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she shapes the next generation of theatre artists. Beyond the classroom, Angela leads arts education initiatives at the ArtsBridge Foundation for the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta and serves as Dramaturg-in-Residence with Working Title Playwrights (WTP) in the Southeast. Her scholarly and creative work spans co-editing influential volumes on trans plays with Bloomsbury, including The Methuen Drama Book of Trans Plays, Volumes 2 (2025) and 3 (2026), and The Methuen Drama Book of Trans Plays (2021). She has also contributed to Troubling Traditions: Canonicity, Theatre, and Performance in the US (Routledge, 2022). Her education path—including a BA from UC Santa Cruz, an MA from NYU, and a PhD from Stanford—reflects a commitment to interdisciplinary study and international collaboration.
