Anna Gifty is a prominent economist, author, and public policy advocate whose work centers on economic equity and the advancement of Black women in economics. A doctoral candidate at Harvard Kennedy School, she combines rigorous research with accessible storytelling to illuminate systemic inequalities and actionable policy solutions. She co-founded The Sadie Collective in 2018 to address the underrepresentation of Black women in economics and helped launch the #BlackBirdersWeek campaign in 2019 to celebrate Black naturalists and allyship in science. Anna is the author of The Black Agenda: Bold Solutions for a Broken System (2022) and The Double Tax: How Women of Color Are Overcharged and Underpaid (2025). Her scholarly pursuits include macroeconomics and inequality, supported by fellowships from NSF, Ford Foundation, and the Stone Program.
