Founded in Lowestoft, England, Annotations Of An Autopsy (AOAA) emerged in 2006 with a heavy, sludge-influenced deathcore sound that would define an era for many fans. Their debut EP Welcome to Sludge City (2007) set the stage for a touring schedule and a meteoric rise within the metal scene. AOAA’s studio albums — Before the Throne of Infection (2008) and II: The Reign of Darkness (2010) — showcased a blend of brutal riffs, atmospheric breakdowns, and relentless energy that earned critical notice and dedicated fans alike. The band’s video release for Bone Crown (2010) helped cement their status on the scene, with The Reign of Darkness releasing through Nuclear Blast in both the US and Europe and attracting chart activity on Heatseekers. After a hiatus beginning in 2013, AOAA reformed in 2018–2019 with the World of Sludge EP and reactivated in 2025, signaling a renewed chapter for their career.
