Appalachian Equality Chorus is a vibrant LGBTQ+ chorus rooted in the Tennessee Valley and the broader Appalachian region. Born in spring 2012 as the Knoxville Gay Men’s Chorus, the group began with Bleu Copas and Christopher Hamblin guiding 15 members through a debut at KnoxPride. Since then, the ensemble has grown into a welcoming, inclusive chorus that welcomes LGBTQ+ singers and allies from across the mountains and beyond. Rebranded in 2022, the chorus now rehearses in both Knoxville and Johnson City, reflecting the diverse communities it serves.
