The Arizona Wind Symphony (AWS) is Tempe’s premier 90-piece wind ensemble, captivating audiences with bold brass, lyrical woodwinds, and dynamic percussion. Based in Tempe, Arizona, AWS performs regularly at the Tempe Center for the Arts and brings a diverse repertoire ranging from classical masterworks to contemporary commissions. Founded in 2000 as the Arizona Brass and Wind Ensemble and renamed to Arizona Wind Symphony two years later, AWS celebrated its 25th anniversary season in 2025–2026 with a five-concert lineup at the Tempe Center for the Arts featuring guest artists and signature performances. Led by long-time conductor Bill Richardson for over two decades and, since 2023, Jon Gomez guiding the ensemble’s artistic direction, AWS remains a trusted cultural force and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported in part by the City of Tempe and the Arizona Commission on the Arts.
