Arlington Children's Theater (ACT) is a proudly all-volunteer youth theatre program serving performers ages 7–18 in the Greater Boston area. Founded in 1991, ACT creates opportunities for hundreds of young artists each year through dynamic productions, camps, and workshops. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, mentorship, and community, ACT has become a cornerstone of youth theatre in Massachusetts.

Originally based in Arlington, ACT relocated to the Arlington Center for the Arts in 2008, reinforcing its mission to provide accessible, high-quality theatrical experiences for young performers and their families. Over the years, ACT has benefited from a rotating leadership team that has helped guide its growth and commitment to artistic excellence. Current and recent leadership includes Colleen Rua, Matt Lundeen, Joseph C. Walsh, Anthony Bruno, Christin Rills, and Emily Garven, each bringing unique strengths to program development and production management.

ACT produces about 5–6 shows each year, alongside vacation camps and workshops. More than 200 children participate annually, supported by a network of 50+ contracted creative professionals. This collaborative model ensures a rich learning environment where young actors, designers, and technicians gain practical theatre experience while contributing to a diverse, community-centered arts scene.

Looking ahead, the 2025–26 season features an exciting One Act Play Festival (performances Oct 10–11, 2025; location to be announced) and Shrek the Musical (performances Dec 11–14, 2025; venue varies by production). ACT continues to expand opportunities for youth to take the stage and grow as artists, neighbors, and leaders in their communities.
