The Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO) brings together over 100 pre-professional musicians from across Asia to perform at a high level while training the next generation of international artists. Founded by the legendary Yehudi Menuhin and Richard Pontzious, the ensemble has grown into a trusted cultural ambassador with a track record of acclaimed performances across Asia and Europe. Led by artistic director Richard Pontzious and principal conductor Joseph Bastian, the AYO blends rigorous preparation with an adventurous concert repertoire.

AYO’s mission centers on cultural exchange, artistic excellence, and community impact, earning prestigious awards such as the 2010 Praemium Imperiale Grant for Young Artists and the 2015 Nikkei Asia Prize for Culture and Community. The six-week summer program, including a three-week camp in Hong Kong and a three-week tour, trains students from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
