Asphyx is a cornerstone of European death metal, blending relentless aggression with doom-soaked atmospherics. Since forming in the late 1980s, the band has built a reputation for uncompromising live performances and a catalog that influences a generation of metal bands. Led by vocalist Martin van Drunen and guitarist Paul Baayens, the current lineup also features Alwin Zuur on bass and Stefan Hüskens on drums. In 2021, they released Necroceros on Century Media Records, an album that continues their tradition of heavy, precise riffing and brutal, anthemic hooks.
