Founded in 2011 in Chicago by Michael Johnston and Adam Thurston, Audiotree operates as a live-session label and platform that highlights emerging and established indie artists through high-quality performances. The ATMF launched in Kalamazoo in 2012, airing a diverse, genre-spanning lineup at Arcadia Creek Festival Place for several years. In 2019, Audiotree shifted focus from a Kalamazoo festival to more Chicago-based shows, including regular events at Lincoln Hall and Schubas Tavern. The pandemic era brought Staged, a virtual-concert series, keeping fans connected online. Looking ahead, Arcadia Creek Festival Place is undergoing renovations beginning December 1, 2025, with reopening planned for 2027–2028, which may influence future festival plans in Kalamazoo.
