Founded in 1996 as a professional team in Austin, they competed in the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL) before moving to the Central Hockey League (CHL). The team captured division titles in 2001–02 and 2002–03, and reached the CHL Finals in both those years, finishing as runner-up to the Memphis RiverKings. After a period away from the top professional ranks, the franchise was reimagined in 2021 as a NA3HL Tier III junior team based in Cedar Park, Texas. Today, the Ice Bats call The Crossover in Cedar Park home, bringing professional-style competition to young players and fans alike.
