Back of The Moon is a cornerstone of Scottish folk, formed on the Isle of Arran in 2000 as Gillian Frame & Back of the Moon and later known simply as Back of the Moon. The group blends traditional Scottish melodies with modern acoustic textures, weaving border pipes, fiddle-based vocals, piano, and guitar into a compelling, intimate sound. Although the project has been largely inactive since 2007, its impact on the contemporary folk scene remains lasting, with a storied history of award-winning performances and a memorable late-2000s US tour.
