BAFONA, originally founded in 1965 as Ballet Folclórico Nacional Aucaman and renamed in 1969, is Chile’s official national folk-dance ensemble. With more than 70 public presentations each year and audiences totaling well over 160,000, BAFONA is a cornerstone of Chile’s performing arts landscape.

The ensemble’s 2025 tour schedule spans Biobío, Iquique, Ñuble/Maule, Viña del Mar, and additional north-region engagements, with a government-backed plan to extend outreach to Arica y Parinacota as part of the north-focused run. BAFONA also represented Chile at Expo Osaka 2025, underscoring its role in cultural diplomacy and international exchange.
