Founded in 1978 as a non-profit and rooted in Puerto Rico’s vibrant dance scene, Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico has grown into a cornerstone of the island’s performing arts. Under early artistic direction by Lolita San Miguel, the company established a deep connection with local audiences while expanding its reach to international collaborations. The Conservatorio de Ballet Concierto trains the next generation of dancers, preparing professionals for local companies and international stages. The company’s repertoire spans classical and contemporary works, and it has premiered notable productions such as Carmen (1994), The Phantom of the Opera (1997), The Calinda (1989), Pico Rico Mandorico (2001), and Dream of a Midsummer Night's Dream (2012).
