Since 1975, Ballet Excel Ohio (BXO) has cultivated young ballet talents in the Akron area, building a reputation as the longest‑running youth ballet company at the Akron Civic Theatre. Founded by Nan Klinger as Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet, the company was renamed Ballet Excel Ohio to reflect its evolving mission: to nurture 8–18 year‑old dancers through classically trained, original works and robust education programs. Led by Artistic Director Mia Klinger, a founding member who stepped into leadership in 2001, BXO blends artistry with community impact.

BXO’s ROAD® program, Reach Out And Dance, brings dance education to thousands of students, expanding access and inspiring a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts. With a 50th anniversary year in 2025–2026, Ballet Excel Ohio is celebrating with world premieres and special events, including November 2025–2026 programming and the highly anticipated Aladdin project in 2026.
