Ballet Nebraska, now operating as American Midwest Ballet (AMB), is the region’s dedicated professional dance company rooted in Omaha and Council Bluffs. Since its founding in 2009 by Erika Overturff, the company has grown into a regional ambassador for ballet, merging strong classical technique with community outreach. In 2018–2019, the company rebranded to AMB to reflect its broader footprint across the Midwest while continuing to bring nationally recognized dancers to the stage in Omaha’s Orpheum Theater and Council Bluffs’ Hoff Family Arts & Culture Center.

AMB is known for its flagship productions, most notably The Nutcracker, which involves thousands of attendees each year and drives extensive educational programs that touch tens of thousands of students through workshops and outreach. The AMB School serves as the region’s affiliated dance academy, helping to cultivate the next generation of performers and audiences through ongoing classes and community engagement.

Stay tuned for 2025: AMB presents Alice in Wonderland at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha in the spring, followed by Nutcracker performances in Omaha and Council Bluffs, including a November 22 show at the Hoff Center and a December 4–7 run at the Orpheum.
