BalletX is Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet company, founded in 2005 by Christine Cox and Matthew Neenan. Based in Philadelphia, BalletX expands the vocabulary of modern dance through a rotating repertory and a prolific output of world premieres by dozens of choreographers. The company develops new works, engages communities, and connects audiences with the creative process.

With an ensemble of about 16 dancers, BalletX pushes boundaries while staying rooted in emotionally resonant storytelling. In 2018, the company opened the Center for World Premiere Choreography in South Philadelphia to champion new works and community programs, and initiatives like X-Process bring choreographers and audiences into direct conversation through public rehearsals and conversations.
