The Barefoot Divas bring a powerful convergence of voice, story, and song. Six Indigenous women—Merenia Marin, Whirimako Black, Emma Donovan, Ursula Yovich, Maisey Rika, and Ngaiire—join forces in Walk A Mile In My Shoes, a project that blends spoken word poetry, storytelling, and music to explore endurance, identity, and resilience. Production is led by Alana Valentine and Vicki Gordon, and the work has resonated from Sydney to international stages.

Walk A Mile In My Shoes premiered at Sydney Festival and has appeared at Brisbane Powerhouse and other venues. The project has reached international audiences, including a U.S. performance at Zellerbach Auditorium in Berkeley and a Hong Kong appearance. A live album, Walk a Mile In My Shoes (Live), was released in 2013 under Vicki Gordon Music Productions. One participant, Ursula Yovich, is a Helpmann Award winner, reflecting the caliber and impact of the collective.
