The Barton College Bulldogs football program has a storied past dating back to 1920, with a modern resurgence beginning in 2020. Based in Wilson, North Carolina, the Bulldogs compete at Truist Stadium (Electric Supply Company Field) under the leadership of head coach Chip Hester. Since re-launch, Barton has competed at the Division II level and joined Conference Carolinas in football in 2025, marking a new era for the program and its supporters.

The essentials
Barton College competes in the challenging landscape of NCAA Division II football and began its journey in 1920. After periods of hiatus, the program re-launched in 2020 and has since built a growing fan base, driven by competitive play and student-athlete development. In 2025, Barton joined Conference Carolinas for football, expanding its conference rivalries and opportunities for postseason play.
Truist Stadium (Electric Supply Company Field) in Wilson, NC, serves as the Bulldogs’ home venue. The stadium atmosphere, local hospitality, and community support make game days memorable for students, alumni, and fans traveling from nearby cities and across North Carolina.
Chip Hester enters his 5th season as head coach (as of 2025) and has guided the program through a period of growth and development. His leadership focuses on building a competitive program, player development, and community engagement.
Barton’s 2025 slate features 11 games, with a strong home presence at Truist Stadium. Home games are scheduled for August 28 vs Virginia State, October 4 vs Delta State, October 18 vs Chowan, October 25 (Homecoming) vs Shorter, and November 15 vs Chowan. All other contests are away, offering opportunities to follow the Bulldogs across the region.
