The essentials
Key programs include the flagship Bay Area Book Festival, the Merritt Dialogues, and the Affinity Lit Collectives launched in 2025 (Women Lit, LGBTQIA+ Lit, Mixed Race Lit). The 2025 festival runs May 31–June 1 across multiple venues in Downtown Berkeley, including Freight & Salvage, The Marsh Berkeley, Berkeley Public Library Central, Brower Center, Goldman Theater/Tamalpais Room, Hotel Shattuck Ballroom, Crystal Ballroom and Courtyard, The BART Plaza Stage, and more.
