Belle and Sebastian, formed in Glasgow in 1994, are led by Stuart Murdoch and have become one of indie music’s most beloved acts. Known for their intimate arrangements, literate lyrics, and melodic, chamber-pop sensibilities, they helped shape the twee pop and indie rock scenes from the mid-1990s onward. The band’s early breakthrough arrived with Tigermilk (1996) and If You’re Feeling Sinister (1996), cementing their reputation for heartfelt storytelling and intricate arrangements. Over the years, a rotating core lineup has complemented Murdoch’s songwriting, delivering consistently engaging records and a devoted fanbase across the globe.
