About Betty Haag Academy
Founded and led by Betty Haag-Kuhnke, a veteran violin educator with a multi-decade career, the Academy is known for its rigorous Suzuki method pedagogy that was introduced to Arlington Heights Public Schools. Haag-Kuhnke studied with Shinichi Suzuki in Matsumoto, Japan, and has guided countless students to performance venues around the world, including the Vatican, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, and the White House. Betty Haag Academy has earned prestigious recognitions such as the Illinois String Teachers Association Outstanding Studio Teacher Award (1994), Ars Viva Award of Excellence (2009), National YoungArts Award of Excellence (2017, 2018), and NSCMF Teacher of the Year (2019). A Kennedy Center achievement-based honor is also noted in biographical sources.
