Between Two Knees is a boundary-pushing Indigenous sketch comedy theatre piece created by The 1491s, a troupe known for blending comedy, storytelling, and historical reflection. Written by Dallas Goldtooth, Sterlin Harjo, Migizi Pensoneau, Ryan RedCorn, and Bobby Wilson, the show explores Native American histories and contemporary experiences with sharp wit and piercing honesty. Directed by Obie Award–winning director Eric Ting, the production has traveled from its world-premiere at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (2019) to acclaimed runs across the country, including Seattle Repertory Theatre (2023), Yale Repertory Theatre (2022), McCarter Theatre Princeton (2023–24), and the Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC, 2024). Be aware that the performance includes violence, profanity, strobe lighting, and other intense material. If you’re looking for fearless storytelling with cultural depth, this is a must-watch show.
