Bill Frisell Four brings the signature voice of guitarist Bill Frisell to life with a focused quartet lineup that showcases his distinctive blend of Americana, folk, and modern jazz. As Frisell’s third Blue Note-led album, Four (2022) features Gerald Clayton on piano, Greg Tardy on saxophone/clarinet, and Johnathan Blake on drums—no bassist. The project includes 13 Frisell originals and carefully chosen covers, among them a heartfelt dedication to Ron Miles. In 2024, Frisell released Breaking the Shell with Kit Downes and Andrew Cyrille, expanding his sonic palette with pipe organ textures and European folk influences. Expect intimate, lyrical interpretations and adventurous improvisation in live settings across Europe and beyond.
