Bill Moring is a renowned jazz bassist and educator with a career spanning more than three decades in New York City's vibrant jazz scene. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1958, Bill has built a reputation for his deep groove, musicality, and commitment to mentoring the next generation of musicians.

From touring with Woody Herman's Thundering Herd in 1985 to joining the Count Basie Orchestra in 1987, Moring quickly established himself as a versatile performer capable of navigating complex ensembles and intimate settings alike. An NEA study grant in 1986 allowed him to study with Rufus Reid, shaping his approach to rhythm, tone, and melodic support.

As a leader and collaborator, Bill has appeared on Grammy-nominated live recordings with the John Von Ohlen/Steve Allee big band and has collaborated with iconic artists such as Joe Williams, Mel Tormé, Dakota Staton, Susannah McCorkle, Frank Foster, Clark Terry, and many others. His career also includes a long-standing commitment to music education through faculty roles at Montclair State University, Sarah Lawrence College, and NJPAC’s Jazz for Teens program.
