Billy Drummond is a premier jazz drummer, bandleader, and educator whose work spans performance, recording, and pedagogy. Based in the New York jazz scene, he has contributed to hundreds of recordings and collaborated with legends such as Horace Silver, Sonny Rollins, Carla Bley, Steve Kuhn, and Nat Adderley. As a leader, Drummond has released acclaimed albums, including Dubai, which received notable recognition, and Valse Sinistre (2022), highlighted by major jazz publications. He also teaches at Juilliard and NYU, shaping the next generation of improvisers. His ongoing project, Billy Drummond’s Freedom of Ideas, continues to push boundaries in contemporary jazz.
