Biography
Billy Prine formed Chicago bar bands early in his career and later became John Prine’s tour manager throughout the 1970s. A pioneer at the Bluebird Café in Nashville as an early staff member, he helped shape the city’s storied singer-songwriter scene. He expanded his impact by curating Live from Mountain Stage for Oh Boy/Blue Plate and today fronts The Songs & Stories of John Prine, a powerful blend of storytelling and John Prine’s material. Prine’s genre-spanning work fuses blues, folk, and Americana with rock-inflected energy, a sonic footprint confirmed by his 2020 release that describes a blues-leaning, roots-driven sound.
