Binomio de Oro de America is one of Latin America's most influential vallenato acts. Founded in Barranquilla on June 16, 1976 by Rafael Orozco (voice) and Israel Romero (accordion), the duo earned the nickname "La Universidad del Vallenato" for shaping generations of singers and accordionists. After Rafael Orozco's passing in 1992, Israel Romero continued the Binomio legacy with new vocalists, leading to iterations like Binomio de Oro de América that keep the tradition alive on stages around the world.
