People behind the production
Black Boys Cry Stage Play is a powerful, text-based stage experience that blends sharp wit with deep emotional resonance. Principally a comedy-forward exploration of Black manhood, the production focuses on performance and live emotion rather than song. The show has received notable recognition, including BroadwayWorld awards for Best Play, Best Actor (Robert Richard), and Best Director (Harold JAY Trotter) in 2024. The company features dynamic performers and rotating cast members, with notable contributors such as Julian Austin (Canadian country musician) and Ahz Moses (R&B/soul singer) appearing across tour iterations. The forthcoming 2025–2026 tour brings the play to multiple cities, continuing its mission to illuminate Black experiences with honesty, humor, and heart.
