Black Irish formed in 1989 after the members appeared as extras in Back to the Future Part III, planting their roots in the Bay Area and building a long-running West Coast presence. They describe their sound as progressive folk, weaving hard-hitting Irish folk with storytelling drawn from Gold Rush era narratives and maritime and railroad themes. Over the years, they have become a staple for fans of roots music who crave social and historical storytelling set to energetic, acoustic arrangements.
