Black Voices in Cabaret (BVIC) is a dynamic performing arts initiative rooted in Chicago’s vibrant arts scene. Born from Working In Concert, a Chicago-based incubator for collaborative cabaret, opera, and classical vocal projects, BVIC brings a distinct Black perspective to the cabaret form. This project spans genres from Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Gospel, to Theatre and Classical song, all interpreted through a contemporary Black lens. BVIC has earned notable recognition, including First Place at The American Prize in Virtual Performance (2022) and the 2024 BroadwayWorld Chicago Best Cabaret/Concert/Solo Performance award.
