Black Women Rock (BWR) is a Detroit-born, Betty Davis–inspired rock show featuring women musicians and poets. Since 2004, founder Jessica Care Moore has curated a dynamic ensemble that blends powerhouse vocals, tight musicianship, and poetic performance. Core BWR artists include Thornetta Davis, Sylvia Black, Divinity Roxx, Steffanie Christi’an, and Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale, among others. From the duo We Are Scorpio to Divinity Roxx’s World Wide Playdate, BWR continues to push the intersection of rock, blues, and spoken word at festivals, theatres, and intimate venues.
