Blackest of the Black is more than a performer—it's a lineage in extreme metal born from Glenn Danzig’s influential festival concept. The project grew from the 2003 Danzig-curated festival that brought together a marquee lineup including Danzig, Superjoint Ritual, Opeth, Nile, Lacuna Coil, and Behemoth. In 2005, this vision expanded into a multi-city tour with headlining acts from Danzig and a notable 30-minute Misfits set featuring Doyle, alongside bands like Chimaira, Behemoth, Mortiis, Himsa, and The Agony Scene. The festival atmosphere has long combined two stages with immersive experiences, from Castle Danzig to other thematic attractions, delivering a complete heavy-metal experience across a broad spectrum of acts. The concept was revived in 2017 as a two-day destination festival at Oak Canyon Park in Orange County, California, headlined by Danzig and supported by a diverse roster of heavy acts and experiences. Officially branded as BlackestFest, the project maintains a loyal following across platforms.
