Bluebeat Lounge began in early 2003 as a weekly ska and reggae show at Knitting Factory Hollywood, organized by Chris Murray with Brian Dixon. Over the years, it grew into a cornerstone of Los Angeles’ ska scene, celebrated for its rotating bands and guest performers who shaped a community around ska, reggae, and rocksteady. While the Knitting Factory Hollywood location has since closed and there is no confirmed plan for a new venue, Bluebeat Lounge remains a beloved touchstone for fans of the genre, continuing to search for a new home and future opportunities to bring the scene together.
