Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Bobby Patterson has been a cornerstone of the Southern soul scene since the 1960s. As founder of the Mustangs, he helped shape a string of Jetstar/Paula singles that defined an era. A prolific songwriter, Patterson co-wrote That’s What the Blues Is All About, a track later recorded by Albert King. His work spans decades, with a modern revival evident in the 2014 release I Got More Soul!, produced by Zach Ernst. His 2018 compilation, Soul Is My Music: The Best Of Bobby Patterson, gathers Abnak/Jetstar material alongside unreleased tracks, highlighting his enduring influence on American soul music.
