Borderlands Theater, founded in 1986 by Barclay Goldsmith and guided today by Producing Artistic Director Marc David Pinate and Associate Artistic Director Milta Ortiz, is a lead voice in culturally rooted theatre along the U.S./Mexico border. Based in Tucson, Arizona, the company reflects the voices, stories, and complexities of border communities through innovative productions and community programming. A key co-founder of the National New Play Network (NNPN) in 1998, Borderlands has fostered development for new plays and regional premieres, earning national attention for works like Más and earning recognition in national awards circles.

With a mission to illuminate cross-border experiences, Borderlands continues to expand its impact through grants, collaborations, and a dynamic season that welcomes world premieres and national touring partners.
