Brian Downen is a distinguished American operatic performer and educator renowned for his bel canto artistry. With a Met Opera debut in 2016 as Lord Cecil in Roberto Devereux and a subsequent return as Triquet in Eugene Onegin in 2017, Downen has established a reputation for nuanced lyricism and expressive vocal characterization. In addition to his on-stage work, he serves as Voice Area Coordinator at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where he teaches applied voice and diction, directs and chairs at the Song Festival, and founded Innovative Music Camps. He is actively involved in continuing education through masterclasses and public performances.
