Bridges Composition Competition Tickets

Bridges Composition Competition is Ravinia’s launchpad for rising jazz composers. Open to emerging artists aged 18–30, the competition culminates in premiere performances at Ravinia Festival’s Bennett Gordon Hall and rewards winners with the David Baker Prize: the best available price plus a week of mentorship with Steans Jazz Program directors Billy Childs, John Clayton, and Steve Wilson. The Bridges program blends creation, mentorship, and performance, helping young composers turn ambitious ideas into realized works.

In 2025, Bridges welcomed winners Sam Chandler, John Sturino, and Teresa Um. The season includes an arrival on June 3, 2025, workshop June 4–10, and departure June 11, 2025, with a separate 2025 tour stop at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, NY on April 16, 2025. Applications for the 2025 cycle closed around January 15, 2025, and the 2026 cycle was announced for January 15, 2026.
