Bright Sheng is a distinguished composer and educator renowned for bridging Western and Eastern musical languages. As the Leonard Bernstein Distinguished University Professor of Composition at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD), Sheng has shaped a generation of musicians while maintaining a prolific concert schedule on the international stage. A 2001 MacArthur Fellow, Sheng's career is marked by bold storytelling, richly textured orchestration, and a deep engagement with cultural memory.

Sheng's opera Dream of the Red Chamber made a landmark debut in 2016 at the San Francisco Opera and has since captivated audiences in Asia and beyond. His music is published exclusively by G.
